"Handscapes" is a journey of sound and vision for piano, electronics and video that encompasses commissions as well as pre-written works from an international cast of women composers such as Maria de Alvear, Annie Gosfield, Annea Lockwood,  Silvia Matheus, Cathy Milliken, Lois Vierk, Belinda Reynolds, Ivana Ognjanovic, Olga Neuwirth and Dorothée Hahne. 

 

Tai Chi gestures, shimmery ribbons woven through the piano strings, costumes, baseballs and catcher's mitt, mountains, burning pianos, confessions of lies, ruminations on hands: these are all aspects of "Handscapes" in which the piano appears in a fully new light.

 

"Handscapes" has been performed at the Pumpenhaus: Münster, Alte Feuerwache: Cologne, Laeiszhalle: Hamburg, Haus für Kunst und Handwerk: Hamburg, Mills College: Oakland with excerpts at CCRMA: Stanford University, Schloss Moyland: Kleve, the Klangsucher Festival: Leipzig and  the Interpretation Series: Merkin Hall NY.
